The Middle Tennessee State University student who took her own life yesterday at the James E. Walker Library has been identified as a transgender woman disowned by her family. Serenity Songbird was a third-year student at the university.
Law enforcement agencies were called to the library following a jump report. The victim now identified as Middle Tennessee State University student, Serenity Songbird, jumped from the fourth floor and was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.
Who Was Serenity Songbird?
According to reports, she was disowned by her immediate family after she transitioned to a woman. Born male, Serenity Songbird’s family was against her choice of becoming a woman. She was rejected and sent out of the house. According to a friend, Serenity Songbird moved in with her partner Delanie Dempsey who supported her at all times. Sadly, on Monday, Delanie Dempsey was away, and Songbird took her own life at the library.
