Selena Southerland Obituary, – Shelbyville law enforcement is currently conducting an investigation into a case involving a teenager who was shot in the head during a road rage incident on Tuesday night. At this stage, investigators have limited leads, and the shooter, according to Bedford County deputies, is still at large.
The incident took place in the vicinity of Normandy Road and Highway 41 South in Shelbyville. The victim, a 19-year-old named Selena Southerland, was a passenger in a car with four others when the driver noticed a small white SUV, possibly a Saturn, driving alongside them. According to the young driver’s account, the SUV driver was tailgating them, prompting him to tap on the brakes. In response, the SUV driver pulled up beside them, hurling curses, and fired at least one shot.
Tragically, one of the bullets struck Southerland in the head. The SUV driver then turned around and quickly fled the scene, speeding off on Normandy Road. After speaking with first responders at the scene, Southerland was airlifted to a hospital for medical treatment. Fortunately, the bullet that struck her had passed through a window and headrest, which significantly reduced its velocity and prevented it from being fatal. This investigation is currently ongoing, and we will provide updates as soon as they become available.
