CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — It was another day of delays and cancellations Thursday at Charlotte Douglas International Airport amid winter weather.
Ice, freezing rain and snow moved through the region, causing massive disruptions. By 2:45 p.m., there had been a staggering 509 flight delays at the airport.
Cancellations reached 239 by Thursday afternoon, according to FlightAware.

A Winter Weather Advisory was in effect through noon for uptown Charlotte and the Piedmont with Avery County holding on until 6 p.m. as snow lingers for the afternoon.
Thursday night will usher in bitterly cold temperatures as lows bottom out in the upper teens for Uptown and single digits in our mountains.
We’ll have a Cold Weather Advisory for Ashe, Avery, Watauga, Lancaster, and Chesterfield counties through Friday morning with bitterly cold temperatures expected overnight.
Friday will be sunny and cold, only hitting the mid-40s during the peak heating hours of the day.
