BURKE COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A search is underway for an armed suspect in a Morganton neighborhood, according to Burke County Emergency Communications.
Law enforcement and emergency crews have responded to the area of Causby Road and Fernwood Drive for the reports of an armed suspect.
Glen Alpine Elementary and WA Young Elementary have been placed on a soft lockdown as a precaution, authorities confirmed.
“Please avoid contact and ensure you are secure inside your home if you live in the circled area. If you see suspicious activity call 911 immediately,” Burke County 911 said.
This remains an active investigation.
