Sunday morning saw the return of emergency personnel to London’s Thames River in order to resume their multi-day search for a girl who plunged into the water late last week but never came out.
Around 3 p.m. on Thursday, the search was launched along a stretch of the Thames River close to the Adelaide Street bridge. A police aircraft and drone buzzed overhead, revealing boats and divers in the river.
On Friday, London police announced that the search had evolved into a recovery effort.
Recovering a child from the Thames River is currently a London, Ontario, operation.
Anna Bielli, age seven, has been identified as the missing youngster by her family and friends.
According to fire officials, the girl’s mother reported to rescue teams that she had into the water east of the bridge and was subsequently observed struggling.
Members of a local church who were at the site on Thursday to comfort the family, who are originally from the Philippines, said that Bielli had been near the river with her mother and two younger siblings.
