“I just heard the news of the passing of Scott Witt. I’m truly at a loss for words! I’ll never forget all the laughs and jokes we had at Incahoots and Montana’s! I’ll never forget the first time I met you at Incahoots and you had taken a photo of me at Laughlin the weekend before! I could always count on you to have a smile ear to ear and in a good mood ready to have a good time! You will be missed my friend.”
“You were one of the most kind hearted men I’ve known and definitely reminded me to never lose my worth. Thank you. I hope you’re relaxing, drinking a cold beer, and blaring good country music up there! Give them a little hell up there in a good way! Show them how we do it. God Speed my friend! Mr. Witt was an 18-year resident of the Gilberts area. He was a teacher and an employee of School District U-46.”
He was a former track coach at both Elgin and Larkin High Schools and a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church of Dundee Township. Scott is survived by his wife of 23 years, Mary C. (nee Wentland) Witt, whom he married Aug. 11, 1978; sons, Kevin, Karl and Greg, all at home; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Stan and Dorothy Wentland of Rockford. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the time of services today, at the church. Please omit flowers. A memorial has been established in his memory in care of the family.
