Scott Shaffer Arrested;- Two individuals have lost their lives, and a suspect is currently in custody following a shooting incident in Armstrong County on Wednesday morning.
As detailed in a criminal complaint, Kittanning police responded to reports of a shooting in the 100 block of Shaffer Lane in Washington Township at approximately 2:40 a.m., which resulted in two fatalities.
The investigation revealed that the shooter and the two victims, aged 27 and 32, had been at Ruby’s Den Burger & Spirits Bar and Grill prior to the incident, according to the complaint.
The shooter, identified as 56-year-old Scott Shaffer, invited the two victims to his residence, arriving at his home on Shaffer Lane before they did, as stated in the complaint. Upon their arrival, Shaffer retrieved a rifle and instructed his 18-year-old daughter, who was present at the time, to stay in her room and not to come out, the complaint indicates.
The complaint further details that in the early hours of Wednesday, Shaffer shot both victims and subsequently asked his daughter to conceal the firearm. Following this, his daughter made a 911 call. Shaffer has been taken into custody and has admitted to the police that he shot both victims. He is now facing charges of criminal homicide.
