The University of Jamestown Physical Therapy Program is very sorry to inform of the sudden death of Scott Mecham, a kind friend to many, a committed student, and a loving husband and father. In addition to the University of Jamestown community, Scott’s passing has shocked the physical therapy community and people whose lives he had a direct impact on. In remembering him and the remarkable man he was, his family, friends, students, and coworkers find comfort while they struggle with the tremendous loss.
Scott Mecham was well-known for his persistent commitment to his academics, his love of helping people, and his ingrained sense of duty as a parent and a spouse. Despite being unfortunate, his departure reflects the deep loss experienced by the many people who had the honor of getting to know and love him. People have come together in this time of loss, sharing a common pain and working together to support the Mecham family during this traumatic period.

Scott Mecham entered the field of physical therapy because he had a strong desire to assist people. As a student in the physical therapy program at the University of Jamestown, Scott was respected for his devotion to the field and to bettering the lives of his patients, both by his classmates and academics. Scott was more than simply a pupil in a classroom; he personified the values of caring, compassion, and service that are important to physical therapy.
