Sarah Fitton Death: The community is deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of Sarah Fitton. In response to this tragedy, Rhiannon Mimms has organized a fundraiser to cover Sarah’s cremation services. The community’s response has been heartwarming, with the $1,100 goal met through the generosity of 24 donors. The most recent donation of $25 came from Breanne Davidson Clifford, while an anonymous donor contributed the highest amount of $100. Lisa Marie was the first to donate, also giving $100.
Rhiannon shared a touching story about her connection to Sarah’s family, which began in May 2016 when she received an email from the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) asking if she could take in two brothers, Matthew and Lee, who had just entered foster care. Although Sarah faced significant personal struggles and did not have the chance to know her sons well during this time, her love for them was undeniable. She made the selfless decision to allow Rhiannon to adopt them, ensuring their future stability. The adoption was finalized on April 13, 2018, with Sarah’s mother, Susan, present.
Despite the challenges she faced, Sarah’s resilience and love for her children shone through. Rhiannon recalls meeting Sarah at Samantha’s memorial service, where Sarah’s warmth and affection were evident. Though her time with her sons was limited, Sarah’s love left a lasting impression on them, and they continue to cherish the bond they shared. The community’s support for the fundraiser reflects the impact Sarah had on those around her. The funds raised will go toward honoring her memory and providing the necessary services.
