Sarah Best Obituary, Death; – A native of Tennessee and a graduate of Vanderbilt University has been confirmed as one of the victims of the tragic plane crash that occurred last week in Washington, D.C.
Sarah Best, originally from Clarksville, was among those on board the American Airlines flight that collided with an Army helicopter on Wednesday, resulting in the loss of 67 lives. She was 33 years old.
After graduating summa cum laude from Vanderbilt University, Best pursued her legal education at the University of Pennsylvania’s Carey Law School, where she actively participated in various university organizations and student groups, as noted in a statement from Carey Law School. In the fall of 2024, she began her career as a law associate at Wilkinson Stekloff LLP.
Prior to her time at law school, Best dedicated five years to teaching in public high schools in Memphis and Nashville. Additionally, she held the position of instructional coach for Teach for America and the Nashville Teacher Residency.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Sarah Best, a cherished member of our law school community,” stated Sophia Z. Lee, Dean and Bernard G. Segal Professor of Law at the university.
“Sarah was an exceptional, kind, and compassionate individual who made a significant impact on many lives. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. As we mourn together, we will cherish the memory of Sarah and the brightness she brought into our lives,” Lee added.
