Samantha was born on March 3, 1996, in Hebron, Connecticut, where she grew up surrounded by the love of her family and close-knit community. From a young age, Sam was known for her caring and thoughtful nature, as well as her ability to bring a smile to anyone’s face. She had a heart full of kindness, a deep sense of empathy, and a passion for making the world a better place, whether through small acts of kindness or larger endeavors. Sam’s family was always her cornerstone, and she was deeply devoted to them.
After graduating from RHAM High School in Hebron, Sam pursued her academic dreams at Eastern Connecticut State University, where she was in her final year of completing a degree in Social Work. Throughout her time at ECSU, Samantha demonstrated a genuine dedication to understanding and helping others, particularly those in vulnerable communities. Whether through her academic achievements, internships, or volunteering efforts, Sam was committed to making a positive impact.
Her professors and peers consistently praised her for her intelligence, her integrity, and her unwavering passion for social justice. At Eastern, Sam was not only an outstanding student but also an active member of the university’s community. She volunteered her time with various organizations, including the campus’s mental health outreach programs and community service initiatives.
Sam’s enthusiasm for helping others extended beyond the classroom, and her work in advocating for mental health awareness and providing support for those in need was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a leader in fostering a supportive, inclusive environment, always offering a helping hand and listening ear to anyone who needed it. Outside of her academic and extracurricular commitments, Samantha was also a sports enthusiast who loved to stay active.

Samantha is survived by her loving parents, Michael and Deborah Guppy of Hebron; her devoted brother, Jacob Guppy, of Hartford; and her beloved sister, Olivia Guppy, of Hebron.
She is also survived by numerous extended family members, including grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a large circle of friends who considered her a sister. Samantha’s passing leaves a tremendous hole in the hearts of all who knew her, but her legacy of kindness, compassion, and determination will live on through those whose lives she touched. Her family finds comfort in knowing that Samantha’s spirit will continue to inspire others, particularly in her field of social work.
Sam’s commitment to improving the lives of others, her advocacy for mental health awareness, and her desire to uplift those in need will forever be remembered and carried forward by her colleagues and the students whose lives she impacted during her time at Eastern. A celebration of Samantha’s life will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Hebron Memorial Chapel, located at 17 Main Street in Hebron, Connecticut. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Her family invites all who knew Samantha to come together to honor her memory and share stories of her life, love, and the impact she had on their own lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Eastern Connecticut State University Social Work Scholarship Fund, which Sam had been passionate about supporting. These funds will help future students pursue their education in the field of social work, continuing Sam’s mission of helping others and making a positive difference in the world.
Samantha’s family appreciates the outpouring of love and support they have received during this difficult time.
