Sam E Dial Obituary, Death; – A fatality occurred in a single-vehicle accident on a dead-end road late Monday in McPherson County, according to officials.
The incident was reported at 11:11 p.m. on Monday, near the intersection of 16th Avenue and US-81 highway, situated just southeast of McPherson. This location is approximately half a mile west of Interstate 135.
As per the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup truck was traveling northbound on 16th Avenue when it reached the dead end at US-81. The vehicle continued northward, colliding with the dead-end guardrail and a culvert before coming to a stop.
The driver, who was the sole occupant of the truck, has been identified as Sam E. Dial, 51, from Newton. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and the patrol noted that Dial was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
