On Tuesday, the Russian Embassy in London issued a statement claiming that the United Kingdom had attempted to intervene in Russia’s domestic affairs by imposing sanctions on Russian judges and officials involved in the prosecution of Russian opposition politician Vladimir Kara-Murza.
The statement was made in response to the fact that the United Kingdom had put sanctions on Russian judges and officials involved in the prosecution of Kara-Murza. “We regard the recent decision of the British authorities to impose restrictive measures against six Russian nationals as an inadmissible attempt to interfere in the domestic affairs of Russia,” the Russian Embassy declared in a post on the social platform X, which was formerly known as Twitter.
The Russian Embassy is located in London, United Kingdom. “We consider this to be an unacceptable attempt to interfere in the internal affairs of Russia,” the statement read. After Kara-Murza’s appeal against his 25-year prison sentence was denied, the United Kingdom announced on Monday that it had placed travel and asset bans, as well as asset freezes, on six individuals, including three judges, for their roles in what it referred to as the “politically motivated targeting” of Kara-Murza.
The United Kingdom referred to this as the “politically motivated targeting” of Kara-Murza. Kara-Murza is a prominent person in the opposition who made the decision to stay in Russia and has continued to criticize the actions of President Vladimir Putin. He was born in Russia but currently resides in the United Kingdom as his primary residence.
