Roynaldo Tabeta Obituary, Death; – Hackettstown officials have disclosed the identities of the driver and pedestrian involved in a tragic accident that occurred earlier this week.
Roynaldo Tabeta, aged 64, from Independence, lost his life after being struck by a vehicle in front of the CVS on Main Street at 10:52 a.m. on Wednesday, as reported by Hackettstown public information officer Darren Tynan on Friday morning. The driver has been identified as a 61-year-old resident of the Flanders area in Mount Olive.
Initial investigations indicate that a GMC Canyon, operated by the Flanders resident, was traveling westbound on Route 46 when it deviated from the roadway and collided with Tabeta, who was walking on the sidewalk. Tabeta was transported to Hackettstown Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 11:53 a.m.
The driver from Flanders was also taken to the hospital for a medical assessment, according to Tynan. The investigation into the crash is ongoing. Assisting agencies at the scene included the Hackettstown Detective Bureau, the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office, the Independence First Aid Squad, paramedics from St. Clare’s Hospital, and the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
