Roy Bell Jr Obituary, Death; – A man discovered fatally stabbed on Wednesday within his charred residence in Augusta has been identified as Roy Bell Jr. on Thursday.
Sheriff Nathan Sions stated in a Thursday announcement that “April Einig informed deputies that she had stabbed Mr. Bell, and evidence collected during the investigation corroborates this identification.”
Einig, aged 42, was apprehended by deputies from the sheriff’s department during a traffic stop on U.S. Route 50, east of Romney, at approximately 3:38 a.m. on Wednesday. Reports indicate she was covered in blood and was driving Bell’s Ford pickup truck. During the encounter, Einig allegedly claimed to deputies that she had stabbed the 70-year-old Bell at his home on Woodland Mountain Trail in self-defense; however, Sions indicated that the evidence did not support her assertion.
“All evidence gathered by the Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office suggests that April Einig acted independently,” Sions remarked.
“This includes video surveillance obtained from the vicinity of the crime scene.” Just moments prior to the traffic stop, emergency responders were notified of a fire at Bell’s residence. When firefighters arrived, the house was nearly completely destroyed, according to Sions. Bell’s remains were located after the fire was extinguished.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined. Einig is currently being held at the Potomac Highlands Regional Jail on a cash-only bond set at $50,000.
