Ronald Omar Tello,Carlos Jimenez Molina Obituary, Death;- Two individuals lost their lives in a three-vehicle accident on Interstate 84 in Danbury on Sunday, which involved a disabled car and a tractor-trailer.
The incident was reported at approximately 6:30 a.m. on I-84 West near Exit 8. A 55-year-old man from Avon was operating a Lexus RX 450h in the left lane when he approached a Hyundai Tiburon that was disabled in the same lane, facing oncoming traffic, as stated by the Connecticut State Police.
According to authorities, the Hyundai had become inoperable after it went into a yaw and struck a guardrail. It is believed that one or more passengers may have exited the vehicle following the initial impact. The driver of the Lexus subsequently collided with the Hyundai, causing it to spin into the path of a tractor-trailer traveling in the right lane. The Hyundai was then struck by the Freightliner.
A person identified as 27-year-old Ronald Omar Tello, who appeared to be outside the Hyundai, and a passenger, 36-year-old Carlos Jimenez Molina, who may have been inside, were pronounced dead at the scene. Both men were residents of Danbury, and Jimenez Molina was set to celebrate his 37th birthday the following day. The 21-year-old female driver of the Hyundai, hailing from Jamaica, New York, sustained minor injuries, according to state police.
The drivers of both the tractor-trailer and the Lexus, along with a passenger in the tractor-trailer, reported no injuries. Multiple agencies responded to the scene, and the westbound lanes of I-84 were closed for an extended period. The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad of the state police also attended the scene, and the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
