Ronald Freeze Obituary News: Community Fund Raising Set up For ‘Galleria Elvis’ Iconic Mall Walker, Ronald Freeze Funeral
HOOVER, Ala
– Following the death of a well-known figure for a large number of Riverchase Galleria patrons, the neighborhood is coming together to ensure he is buried with honor.
The fundraiser’s organizer, Trish Garmon, claimed that “everyone knew who you were talking about” if you mentioned “the Galleria Elvis.”
She recalls the jet-black hair, sideburns, and eyebrows of Ronald Freeze.
Freeze was a well-known walker at the Hoover mall who appeared to be familiar with the layout.
“Trapping the Galleria,” continued Garmon. “He never did anything else that you saw.”
Although not much is known about Freeze’s personal history, Garmon claimed he had a vibrant personality, and she subsequently discovered he was an Army veteran.
She claims that on occasion, he would offer cookies and candies to the mall’s retail staff.
Sadly, those gifts are no longer being given. Freeze passed away in late August, and Garmon was heartbroken that he had no close family to bury him.
Garmon stated, “I kind of felt like I needed to step in and do something because everybody in Hoover knew who he was.”
She established a GoFundMe to pay for her funeral. It will cost roughly $9,000 in total.
More than a hundred individuals have already made donations, and according to Garmon, Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home is supplying a vault, a plot, and a casket.
She expressed her wish that people will be more compassionate, but kindness has no cost.
“I feel like that should be the legacy that Mr. Freeze leaves behind,” Garmon added, urging others to reach out to those who appear to be in need of companionship or attention.
A funeral date will be determined after all funds have been raised.
Additionally, the organizers are pleased to collect donations of flowers for his monument or cemetery site.
