Rodrigo Torrijos-Perez from Hoover,Rita Faye Edwards Obituary, Death; – Two individuals lost their lives in separate traffic accidents on Wednesday in Jefferson County. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased as 19-year-old Rodrigo Torrijos-Perez from Hoover and 75-year-old Rita Faye Edwards from Birmingham.
Torrijos-Perez was operating a vehicle that was part of a two-vehicle collision at 5:36 a.m. at the intersection of 9th Avenue North and 22nd Street North in Bessemer. He was transported to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:01 a.m. The Bessemer police are currently conducting an investigation.
Rita Faye Edwards was driving a vehicle involved in another two-vehicle accident that occurred at 10:35 a.m. on Alabama 151 at Pinson Boulevard. She was also taken to UAB Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 11:13 a.m. The investigation is being handled by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
