Glen Burnie, MD – The community mourns the loss of Rodney Michael Spangler, who peacefully passed away at the age of 68 on May 10, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones at home. Born on November 30, 1955, in Baltimore, MD, Rodney led a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
A Life of Achievement and Service
Rodney was a proud graduate of Cardinal Gibbons High School (1973) and later pursued his higher education at the University of Maryland, where he graduated Cum Laude in 1981. His dedication to excellence extended into his professional life, where he served the state of Maryland as a finance officer until his retirement in 2010. His commitment to his work left a lasting impact on those he served.
Embracing Life’s Joys
Beyond his professional pursuits, Rodney found joy in a variety of activities. He was an avid fisherman and crabber, finding solace and peace in the tranquility of nature. He also had a passion for adventure, enjoying cruises and participating in racing events with Team TGM. Rodney’s playful spirit shone brightest during the holidays when he delighted in dressing up as Santa Claus, bringing joy and laughter to those around him.
A Beloved Family Man
Rodney’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He leaves behind his loving wife, Patricia Spangler, his daughter and son-in-law, La’Kina and Scott Jones, and his adoring grandchildren, Mason and Abbigail Jones. His devotion to his family was evident in every moment spent together, creating cherished memories that will be forever treasured.
Honoring Rodney’s Memory
Family and friends are invited to gather at the Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc. (7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, Maryland 21075) on Monday, May 20, 2024, from 2:00-4:00pm & 6:00-8:00pm, where a Service will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Meadowridge Memorial Park.
