Rodney Ahrens Obituary – According to a document outlining probable cause, a driver traveling in the northbound direction allegedly attempted to make a left turn into Sundown Ranch while eight motorcycles were heading southbound. Tragically, the driver collided with the leading motorcyclist, Rodney Ahrens, aged 69, resulting in his untimely death.
Following Ahrens was Randy Agnew, aged 75, who also collided with the car and was subsequently ejected from his motorcycle. Additionally, a third motorcycle carrying two riders managed to avoid the car but unfortunately lost control and fell.
The riders on the third motorcycle were promptly taken to the hospital, as confirmed by the Washington State Patrol. Regrettably, Agnew passed away later that evening during emergency surgery at Harborview Medical Center.
An investigation into the driver revealed that they had consumed alcohol prior to the incident. Consequently, they have been apprehended and are presently being detained on charges of vehicular assault and homicide, with bail set at $150,000.
The driver’s arraignment is scheduled to take place on July 8.
