Robert Payne,Briana Payne Obituary, Death; – All five individuals discovered deceased in a residence in Northwest Indiana on Friday have been officially identified.
Law enforcement officers were performing a welfare check when they made the grim discovery at approximately 2:44 p.m. in the 6700-block of 9th Avenue in Lake Station, according to officials. On Saturday, the Lake County Coroner’s Office reported that all five individuals, which included three young children, succumbed to gunshot injuries.
The coroner’s office confirmed that the victims included 4-year-old Alayna Payne, 6-year-old Ava Payne, 7-year-old Aurorah Payne, and a 27-year-old woman named Briana Payne, all of whom were classified as homicide victims.
A 31-year-old man, Robert Payne, also suffered a gunshot wound; however, the coroner’s office has indicated that the determination of his manner of death is still “pending.” Authorities have stated that the incidents are believed to be isolated, and there is currently no threat to public safety.
