The search for Venable began after the bodies of her roommates, all aged between 60 and 70, were discovered during a welfare check in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Venable was facing charges of three counts of second-degree murder and a firearms offense. She was taken into custody by New York State Police troopers on Thursday evening, approximately 260 miles north of Fredericksburg. While attempting to pull her over, troopers pursued Venable’s sedan on Interstate 86, resulting in a crash after the vehicle ran over a tire deflation device. Venable sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was subsequently hospitalized. She is currently being held in the Steuben County jail and extradition arrangements are being made.
The Steuben County Public Defender’s office in New York has been contacted for further information.
