Police are investigating the deaths of a married couple in Sycamore who were discovered shot to death on Friday morning.
The Sycamore Police Department reported that officers responded to a call about a shooting in the 200 block of E. Maplewood Drive at approximately 6:47 a.m.
Upon arrival, police, along with DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputies, found 58-year-old Robert Hurley and 56-year-old Kimberly Hurley deceased in the backyard. Both had suffered gunshot wounds, and a firearm was located on Robert Hurley.
Authorities stated there is currently no evidence to suggest the involvement of any other individuals in the incident, though the investigation remains ongoing.

The Ole Miss community is grappling with grief following a tragic incident on Thursday evening. An unidentified individual reportedly jumped from the southeast side of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium into the Manning Center parking lot, resulting in a fatal impact and a devastating loss for the university.
The incident occurred around 9 p.m., shortly after a basketball game at the nearby SJB Pavilion concluded. Witnesses described a significant law enforcement presence as emergency responders and university officials arrived on the scene.
The University Police Department has confirmed the details of the event, and an official report has been filed. Jacob Batte, the university’s media relations director, shared a heartfelt statement regarding the tragedy:
“Thursday evening, University Police responded to a report involving a student near Manning Way. The Coroner’s Office later confirmed the student had passed away. We are heartbroken at the sudden loss of this student, and we extend our condolences to their loved ones during this difficult time.”
In response to the tragedy, university officials are emphasizing the importance of mental health resources and community support. The Ole Miss Counseling Center and the UMatter student support and advocacy center are available to assist those struggling to process this loss.
