Robert Gonzalez Obituary, Death; – The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed the identity of an individual who perished in a residential fire on the South Side.
Eighty-five-year-old Robert Gonzalez was declared deceased at the scene after being discovered by the San Antonio Fire Department in a bedroom within the residence, as reported by fire officials. The medical examiner’s office has indicated that the cause and manner of Gonzalez’s death remain under investigation.
Fire crews were dispatched to the incident in the 500 block of Schley Avenue at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday. An SAFD commander stated during a briefing that the fire likely originated at the rear of the house. Firefighters managed to bring the flames under control in roughly 15 minutes.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined, with SAFD indicating that its arson and fire investigators are actively working to ascertain the details. While an exact assessment of the damages is not available, SAFD has noted that the extent of the damage is considerable.
