The passing of Rob Hopkins at 62 on May 22, 2024, has left a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends, and community. Born to Lester and Anne-Marie Hopkins, Rob was a beloved son, husband, father, brother, and friend. For thirty-five years, he shared a deep and enduring bond with his loving spouse, Sandy Marshall, and together they raised their cherished son, Glen, and embraced their role as devoted grandparents to Killian and Kirsi, who affectionately called him “Papa Rob.”
Rob’s presence was a source of warmth and light to all who knew him. His siblings, Dawn Hope, Deanna Huizing, Kim, and the late Brian, shared countless memories of love and laughter with Rob throughout their lives. His extended family, particularly the Hopkins family, held a special place in his heart, and his loss will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Throughout his life, Rob was deeply engaged in his community, leaving an indelible mark through his involvement in various pursuits. An avid soccer lover, he played the sport passionately and coached and mentored countless young players, instilling in them the values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. Beyond the soccer field, Rob’s love for the great outdoors was evident in his adventurous spirit and reverence for nature’s beauty.
Rob’s commitment to community service extended to his volunteer work at Victoria Presbyterian Church, where he dedicated his time and talents to supporting those in need and fostering a sense of belonging among congregants. His unwavering dedication to serving others was a testament to his compassionate nature and deep-rooted belief in giving back to the community.
In addition to his community involvement, Rob was actively engaged in the academic and artistic spheres, particularly at Korah Collegiate, where he made significant contributions to the robotics and musical theatre departments. His passion for innovation and creativity inspired students and colleagues and impacted the school community.
As friends, family, and community members come together to honour Rob’s memory, they are invited to pay their respects at the Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. A memorial service, presided over by Rev. John and Charlene Wilson, will be held at 7:00 PM, following visitation hours from 5:00 PM onwards. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or Victoria Presbyterian Church, as a meaningful tribute to Rob’s life and legacy.
As those who knew Rob gather to celebrate his life and mourn his passing, they are encouraged to share their memories and condolences on the Arthur Funeral Home website, where a dedicated obituary page has been created in his honour. In doing so, they honour the memory of a remarkable man whose generosity, kindness, and unwavering spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him for years to come. Rob Hopkins may have departed this world, but his legacy of love, service, and community dedication will forever endure in the hearts of those he touched.
