We regret to inform you that Rick, 64, passed away peacefully at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Sunday, July 14, 2024, surrounded by his devoted family. cherished spouse and Rosa’s (née DiRamio) closest friend for 37 years. devoted father of Miller, Madden, and Melanie (Mike) Snow and Jake (Julia) Maiuri.
Survived By
Loved brother of Lita (Gene) Artista, Fred (Theresa) Maiuri, and brother-in-law of Maria (Ernie) Nemett and Allen (Edith) DiRamio. Alicia (JB), Lucas, Halle, Michael (Jackie), Preston (Carol), and Trevor (Jocelyn) all have a loving uncle. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends will miss Rick terribly.
His in-laws Mario and Nancy (DiRamio), nephew Ryan Nemett, and parents Bernardo and Elvira (née Simone) Maiuri all passed away before him. In the neighborhood, Rick was referred to as musician Rick Rose, but at home, he was a family man who prioritized his loved ones and created lifelong memories. He eagerly anticipated the children visiting to engage in board games or a game of trivia, which he consistently prevailed in.
Family Life
His favorite spot to be was by the fire in the backyard with Rosa, enjoying one of his many custom-made music mixes. Over his forty years in the music business, Rick most recently owned and ran the Niagara Institute of Music and Arts. His songs have appeared on over 20 albums throughout the years, with a few of them hitting the Top 40 on Canadian radio.
Music Career
He composed “Dreaming Out Loud” for Doc Walker, a two-time Juno Award nominee, and the theme song for the movie “Rude Awakening.” Alongside Eddie Money, Billy Ray Cyrus, Three Dog Night, and Barbra Mandrell, he has performed on stage. He worked as a staff songwriter for Warner Tamerlane and Sony Music in Nashville.
A lot of people will recall how much fun they had seeing some of his bands, like Perfect Affair, Lennox, and most recently, The Rick Rose Band. We would want to thank you, Babe, for the Most Exciting Train Ride. The Walker Family Cancer Centre personnel, St. Catharines General Hospital staff, and Greater Niagara General Hospital staff all have our sincere gratitude.
Funeral Details
The Patterson Funeral Home, 6062 Main St., Niagara Falls, is open to the public on Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 5 to 9 p.m. to Friday, July 19, 2024, from 1 to 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Rite of Committal will take place in Fairview Cemetery after the Funeral Mass, which will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am at St. Ann’s Church.
