Richard Michael Santana Obituary, Death; – A man who passed away last week after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in El Cajon has been named. Richard Michael Santana, aged 63, lost his life in the hit-and-run incident at 1368 E. Main Street, as reported by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
At approximately 5:14 p.m., authorities received a report regarding a pedestrian who had been hit by a truck. According to police, a white 2005 Dodge Ram was traveling westbound at 1300 E. Main St. when it collided with the pedestrian, who was crossing the street outside of the designated crosswalk.
The vehicle fled the scene; however, officers were able to obtain details about the truck and its registered owner using the city’s Flock license plate reader system. The driver, a 64-year-old man, consented to meet with officers at 1435 E. Main St. and was subsequently arrested for felony hit-and-run. The Medical Examiner determined that Santana’s death was accidental.
