Born and raised in Elba, Alabama, Renita was a pillar of her community. She graduated from Elba High School in 1985, where she was known for her academic excellence and participation in various extracurricular activities, including the debate team and the school choir. Renita’s voice was not only melodious but also filled with passion that resonated deeply with those who heard her sing. Her graduation was just the beginning of a life dedicated to learning, teaching, and inspiring others.
Renita attended the University of Alabama, where she earned her degree in education. Her time at the university was marked by her active involvement in student organizations and community service projects. She mentored many, often helping younger students navigate the challenges of college life. Her professors and peers admired her dedication, intelligence, and kindness.
After completing her education, Renita returned to her hometown, where she began a long and fulfilling career as a teacher. She taught English at Elba High School, the institution she graduated from. Services to honour Renita’s memory will be held at The Rabbit Hole at 214 Factory Drive, Elba, AL, on Friday, May 25, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. The Reverend Mart Gray will officiate the service, guiding us through moments of remembrance and reflection as we pay tribute to Renita’s life and legacy. The service will celebrate Renita’s life, filled with music, memories, and heartfelt tributes from those who knew her best.
After the service, all are invited to return to The Rabbit Hole for light refreshments and fellowship, a time to share stories, offer support, and find solace in embracing the community. It’s a chance to celebrate Renita’s life with those who loved her most, finding comfort in the shared memories and experiences that bind us together.
