The District of Columbia’s beer community mourns the loss of a true pioneer, Dave Coleman, co-founder of 3 Stars Brewing. His passing earlier this week leaves behind a legacy of innovation and camaraderie that has shaped the DC beer scene for years to come.
According to DC Brau Brewing Company, the early days of the DC beer scene were nothing short of magical, and Dave was an integral part of that magic. His passion and dedication were evident in every brew, and his impact on the local beer community is immeasurable. We are grateful for every moment and every beer shared with him, and his memory will forever inspire us to push the boundaries of craft brewing.
Dave’s vivacious energy and unmistakable 3 Star swagger brought a ray of sunshine to every room he entered. Whether he was behind the bar at The Big Hunt or leading the charge at 3 Stars Brewing, his passion for great beer and community building was evident in everything he did. Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and the entire DC beer community as we mourn the loss of a beloved figure.
At The Big Hunt, Dave served as general manager, where he first began to explore the world of craft beer. It was there that he met his partner, Mike McGarvey, and together they embarked on a journey to revolutionize the local beer scene. What started as home brewing experiments quickly evolved into the founding of 3 Stars Brewing in 2009.
Driven by a shared passion for quality and innovation, Dave and Mike dedicated countless hours to perfecting their craft and sharing their creations with the world. Through strategic partnerships and a relentless pursuit of excellence, they quickly gained recognition and became fixtures in the DC beer community.
Dave’s legacy will live on in every pint poured at 3 Stars Brewing and in every memory shared among friends over a cold beer. Though he may no longer be with us, his spirit will continue to inspire us to raise a glass in celebration of good beer and good company. Cheers to Dave Coleman, a true pioneer and friend to all who knew him.
