YORK COUNTY, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — 160 new jobs are coming to York County due to the relocation of Komar Industries, the company announced on Wednesday.
A leading innovator of technology for recycling and waste management, Komar Industries is investing $11.5 million to create the first South Carolina operation in York County. It currently has a base in Charlotte, North Carolina, but will soon move to the existing building at 200 Ratchford Road in York.
Officials say the new operation will grow the company’s manufacturing capabilities in waste and recycling compactor technology. Komar specializes in making balers, stationary compactors and self-contained compactors.
“South Carolina’s economy continues to grow and thrive, and today’s announcement by Komar Industries is another exciting milestone,” Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III said. “The company’s $11.5 million investment will have a substantial impact in York County, and we are proud to support Komar as they relocate and create new opportunities in our state.”
Operations are expected to be online in July 2025. Anyone interested in joining the Komar team can visit the company’s careers page.
