Rebecca Auborn Arrested; – A woman has been deemed competent to stand trial for the alleged murder of four men, whom she reportedly lured for sexual encounters and subsequently drugged.
According to court documents, a judge from the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas has determined that 34-year-old Rebecca Auborn possesses the mental fitness required to proceed with her trial concerning the deaths of four men, whom she allegedly targeted with the intention of robbing them. The judge referenced the defendant’s behavior during court proceedings and a written evaluation report as justifications for allowing the case to advance. Auborn was taken into custody on October 25, 2023, following allegations that she had engaged with five different victims, four of whom reportedly succumbed to drug overdoses, as indicated by court records. The five incidents for which Auborn is currently charged include:
– An attempted overdose on December 13, 2022
– A fatal overdose on January 15, 2023
– A fatal overdose on April 1, 2023
– A fatal overdose on April 13, 2023
– A fatal overdose on June 17, 2023
Previously, Auborn faced charges of aggravated robbery, felonious assault, murder, drug corruption, drug trafficking, and illegal drug manufacturing in relation to the January 15, 2023 incident.
A grand jury in Franklin County has indicted Auborn on a total of 28 charges, which encompass four counts each of murder, involuntary manslaughter, and drug trafficking; five counts each of aggravated robbery, felonious assault, and drug corruption; as well as one count of tampering with evidence.
The Central Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force has expanded its investigation into Auborn to include any reported overdoses occurring between December 2022 and August 2023 in the vicinity of Interstate 71, State Route 161, Cleveland Avenue, and East 17th Avenue in north Columbus. Since her initial arrest in September 2023 related to the January 15 incident, Auborn has been held at the Franklin County Jail. Court records indicate that police discovered Joseph Crumpler in a state of overdose before he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
