DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (PINPOINT WEATHER) — NASCAR is back on track this week and is gearing up for the 67th running of the Daytona 500. But rain may be an issue for several events tied to the Great American Race.
Weather conditions look great for Wednesday night’s Daytona 500 qualifying.
However, showers and thunderstorms could be an issue for Thursday night’s Duels, as a cold front approaches. Thursday night does not look like a washout for Daytona Beach, but a few showers could delay the action.
The weather on Friday and Saturday looks delightful following that cold front. High temperatures will be in the 70s, with partly cloudy skies and mainly dry conditions.
A spotty shower can’t be ruled out for the Craftsman Truck Series race on Friday night or the Xfinity Series race on Saturday, though both of those races should be spared from any weather delays. This includes the ARCA Menards Series at noon Saturday on Queen City News.
Weather conditions will likely be unsettled for the Daytona 500 on Sunday, as another cold front moves in. Scattered showers and storms will build in Sunday afternoon and evening. Right now, there is a 50/50 chance the Daytona 500 will experience weather delays.
If traveling to the track, plan accordingly for any possible delays to a Sunday night or Monday race. If the race is postponed until Monday, the weather does improve as the cold front shifts south. A much cooler day though, high temperatures will only be in the 50s and 60s for Monday.
