Police in Tuscaloosa look for the driver of a tragic hit-and-run vehicle; Tuscaloosa police are actively searching for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run that occurred Thursday night on Englewood Village Drive.
Patricia Ann Brooks, 58, was struck by a vehicle around 9:30 p.m. The vehicle then fled the scene, according to Stephanie Taylor, a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Police Department (TPD).
A passing driver who saw Brooks lying in the roadway called 911. Paramedics arrived promptly and attempted life-saving measures, but her injuries were too severe, and Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers revealed that Brooks resided in the 1100 block of Englewood Village Drive. Family members disclosed that she had a medical condition that might have caused her to collapse while walking, potentially leading to the tragic incident.
TPD’s Traffic Homicide Unit is spearheading the investigation. The department’s news release emphasizes that leaving the scene of an accident involving injuries or a fatality constitutes a Class C felony.
