CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A suspect is in custody after allegedly attempting to enter a school, school officials say.
On Tuesday, a school resource officer at Ashley Park K-8 School notified the staff of a police chase and advised that the school be placed on lockdown.
Although school officials could not provide additional details on the investigation, they did say the suspect attempted to enter the school building but was immediately apprehended by police.
The lockdown was lifted at the instruction of law enforcement.
Principal Joline Adams released this statement to families:
The safety of our students and staff is our number one priority. While incidents like today’s lockdown may be frightening, know that we acted swiftly, and in doing so, nobody was harmed. We will have counselors available for students or staff who need assistance processing this afternoon’s events, and I have included links to resources below. Thank you for your continued support of Ashley Park.
