Police and search and rescue teams are scouring the River Weaver and surrounding areas for missing Nanwich teenager Jonty Evans.
The 16-year-old, from Baddington, has not been seen or heard from since 11pm on Friday.
Officers from Cheshire Police and teams from Cheshire Ambulance Service are currently in the Mill Island area.
They use drones and teams on the water and around the river with thermal imaging.
Several members of Cheshire Search and Rescue have divided the search area into ‘sectors’.
Additional members and officers later arrived to assist in the search.
And many members of the public have also met on the island to offer help in the search.
A ‘Search for Jonty’ Facebook group has been set up for people to join and provide and share any information they can.
Jonty Evans was last seen in the Mill Island area of Nantwich between 10.45pm and 11.15pm on Friday 30th August.
He is described as white, approximately 5’9″ tall, slim build, with mousy brown fringe style hair.
The family says a bag they thought belonged to Jonty was found on Mill Island Saturday morning.
Inspector Ash Sayer, of Congleton LPU, said: “We are increasingly concerned for Jonty’s welfare and would urge anyone who sees him or knows of his whereabouts to contact the police.
“I also want to appeal directly to Jonty, please contact us and let us know that you are safe and that your family is looking after you.”
Anyone with any information regarding Jonty’s whereabouts is asked to contact Cheshire Police via the website or call 101 quoting IML-1907900.
Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
