LOS ANGELES — On Friday, the office of the state Attorney General brought charges against four individuals in connection with three organized smash-and-grab retail thefts that occurred in the counties of Riverside and Los Angeles. In a 14-count felony complaint that was submitted to the Los Angeles Superior Court, the defendants Ziona Janea Famoso, Jordan Harris, Alana Hart, and Jason Jaylom Smith, all of whom are 18 years old, were listed.
The organized retail theft charge is being brought against all four of the accused. Famoso and Hart are accused of taking part in a burglary that took place on August 1 at a Burberry outlet store located in Riverside County. The burglary resulted in the theft of nearly $100,000 worth of products. On August 7, Harris and Smith are accused of committing an armed carjacking in Los Angeles County. It is alleged that Harris utilized a firearm during the commission of the crime.
Harris and Smith are charged with the offense. Famoso and Hart are also suspected of taking part in a smash-and-grab robbery that took place on August 8 at the Yves Saint Laurent store located in the Americana at Brand Mall in Glendale. The pair allegedly stole approximately $300,000 worth of products during the heist. It is alleged that Famoso, Hart, and Harris took part in a robbery that took place on August 12 at the Nordstrom store located in the Westfield Topanga Shopping Center.
The crime resulted in the theft of more than $350,000 worth of products. Among the several allegations that have been brought against the suspect are those of burglary, grand theft, vandalism, and robbery. The criminal complaint also makes the allegation that Hart and Smith were out from custody at the time of the alleged crimes because they had already posted bail or were released on their own recognizance.
In a statement, Attorney General Rob Bonta of the state of California stated that “organized retail theft harms businesses, retailers, and consumers and puts the public at risk.” “I would like to express my gratitude to our partners in local law enforcement for the work that they did in apprehending the suspects in this investigation. The California Department of Justice and its allies will continue their efforts to combat retail theft and other types of crime in order to protect our communities, businesses, and customers.
