Petrina Ann Williams Obituary, Death;- Detectives from the Major Crash Investigation Unit of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are currently examining a fatal incident involving a pedestrian in the North Tryon Division.
On Monday, January 6, 2025, at approximately 6:49 a.m., officers from the North Tryon Division, along with personnel from the Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC, responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the 4500 block of Reagan Drive.
Upon their arrival, officers found a female, later identified as 48-year-old Petrina Ann Williams, lying on the ground. They also discovered a white 2018 Ford Transit with damage to the front right and windshield areas. The driver of the Ford, identified as 20-year-old Eliceo Zunun Aguilar, remained at the scene. Ms. Williams was transported to the hospital by MEDIC, where she was pronounced dead later that morning.
Detectives from the CMPD Major Crash Investigation Unit, along with a Crime Scene Investigator, were called to the scene to carry out the investigation.
Preliminary findings suggest that Mr. Aguilar was driving the Ford Transit westbound on Reagan Drive, approaching N. Graham Street. As the vehicle proceeded, Ms. Williams crossed the road in front of it, resulting in a collision with the right front of the vehicle. At the time of the incident, conditions were dark and rainy, and Ms. Williams was dressed in dark clothing. She crossed the roadway outside of a designated crosswalk.
Speed was not a factor in this collision, and the airbags in the Ford did not deploy. Additionally, Mr. Aguilar was not under the influence at the time of the incident. A toxicology report for Ms. Williams is pending. The next of kin has been informed of Ms. Williams’ passing.
This investigation remains active and ongoing. Updates will be provided by CMPD Public Affairs as new information becomes available.
