Peter Morrish Obituary, Death – The entire Wolverhampton Speedway community is in deep mourning as we come to terms with the loss of our beloved racenight announcer, Peter Morrish, who passed away after a brief illness. Peter was an integral part of our team at Monmore Green for over three decades, leaving an indelible mark on our sport and our hearts. Peter Morrish was not just a talented announcer; he was a friendly presence who brought camaraderie and warmth to our race nights.
His banter with Ian ‘Porky’ Jones, his skill in reading out race results and line-up changes, added a special touch to our Speedway events, making them memorable for fans and participants alike. Peter’s dedication extended beyond the microphone; he was an invaluable member of British Speedway’s backroom team for many years, providing in-depth statistics that enriched the sport’s understanding. His role as the National League Co-Ordinator showcased his commitment to the development and success of Speedway.
As we come to terms with the loss of Peter Morrish, our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends. To honor his memory and the significant contributions he made to our sport, the Club will pay a heartfelt tribute to him prior to the play-off semi-final against Sheffield on Monday, September 25. The image of Peter Morrish alongside former Wolves racer Lewis Blackbird captures a moment of his dedication and passion for Speedway. While he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will continue to reside in the hearts of all those whose lives he touched. Rest in peace, Peter Morrish. You will forever be remembered, cherished, and greatly missed in the Speedway community.
