Patrick Sargent Obituary, Death;- A man from Boylston, who lost his life in an “officer-involved shooting” earlier this month, is remembered in his obituary as a “kind, sweet, and caring individual, always concerned for others and their well-being.”
Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. has identified the deceased as 25-year-old Patrick Sargent, who was fatally shot on March 5 in Boylston. The obituary states, “Patrick’s memory will endure in the hearts of his family and friends, who will always recall his compassionate nature and his many talents.” It concludes with, “Rest in peace, Patrick. You will be profoundly missed.”
The family has requested that any contributions made in Sargent’s honor be directed to the National Kidney Foundation, the Epilepsy Foundation of New England, or the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Details surrounding Sargent’s death remain largely unclear. On the morning of March 5, a significant police presence was reported on Central Street and French Drive in Boylston, as authorities were searching for a 25-year-old man deemed armed and dangerous.
By late morning, police indicated that there was no ongoing threat to the public, although an active crime scene was established in the vicinity. They later confirmed that a man, identified as Sargent, had died as a result of an “officer-involved shooting,” with no officers injured in the incident.
The district attorney’s office has enlisted attorney John Dawley Sr., a former assistant district attorney from Essex County and a private practice lawyer, to carry out an independent review of the case and provide his findings.
According to his obituary, Sargent had worked as a plasterer in the family business for many years and had a passion for drawing, riding dirt bikes, and four-wheeling. He also enjoyed longboarding at Hampton Beach in New Hampshire. In his youth, Sargent was an enthusiastic hockey player and treasured moments spent watching the New York Yankees with his cousin Noey.
