Patricia Pendergast Obituary, Death; – Authorities have identified the individual who perished in a fire that occurred last week in Apalachin.
Patricia Pendergast, aged 85, was discovered alive by first responders but succumbed to her injuries several hours later at a local hospital, as reported by the New York State Police, which was among the various agencies that attended the incident.
Firefighters were alerted to the situation by a neighbor who reported a house fire in the 400 block of Main Street early on January 29, according to the Apalachin Fire Department. Emergency crews arrived promptly and were informed that an individual was trapped within the burning building, as stated by the fire department.
No additional casualties were reported, and it remains unclear whether there were other residents in the home at the time of the fire. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
In addition to the state police, the Apalachin Fire Department received support on-site from the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office, Campville Fire Department, Owego Fire Department, Owego EMS, Tioga County Office of Emergency Services, and the Tioga County Fire Investigation Team.
