Patricia Olson Obituary – Williston resident Patricia “Pati” Olson, 90, went away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, in the Bethel Lutheran Nursing and Rehabilitation Home. Williston, North Dakota is the birthplace of Patricia “Pati” Handrum, who was born to Noral and Zella Handrum on December 6, 1933. Pati was born in the middle of her sister Kay and sister Nancy’s triplet family. Her older sister Kay and her younger sister Nancy completed the trio. She completed her secondary education in 1951 at Williston, North Dakota.
The marriage of Pati and Elvin Olson took place on June 7, 1952. Elvin and Pati were married in Williston, North Dakota, alongside his sister Helene and Duane Diedrich. They began their lives together not long after Elvin inherited the family farm and moved in with Pati. Brad, Ryan, and Rick were the three sons that God blessed them with. For 68 years, Elvin and Pati were wed.
Pati was an active member of the Methodist Church and many ranching and farming projects throughout her life. The game of golf was Pati’s favorite pastime; in 2017, she even scored a hole-in-one! As a farm wife, Pati found immense fulfillment in preparing meals, transporting grain, and providing a helping hand to keep the farm running smoothly. You could find her at the Moose on Friday nights throughout her latter years, enjoying the company of loved ones.
For Pati, nothing was more important than her family. Besides her husband Elvin, Pati’s parents Noral and Zella, her son Brad, her daughter-in-law Debby, and sister Nancy Sheehan all passed away before her.
Williston residents Ryan and Rick (Barb) Olson are Pati’s children. Williston resident Kay Bakken is her sister; Renton, Washington resident Marilyn Olson is her daughter-in-law. Her 24 great-grandchildren also survive her. Her grandchildren include Taylor Olson (Jordon Evert), Whitney Stephenson (Jason), Channing Rohlf of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Chennille Currier of St. Louis, Missouri, Cheyenne Kinzie of Williston, Christian Olson of Williston, Nichole Koch of Williston, Libby Burau of Williston, Channing Evert of Williston, and Eric Olson of Colorado Springs, Colorado. There are numerous cousins, friends, and relatives left behind by Pati, in addition to her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law.
