Patricia Bolan, Andrew Niziol Obituary – On Tuesday, two hikers were discovered deceased on Mount Whitney. The Inyo County Sheriff’s Office received a call on May 7 at approximately 8:30 p.m. regarding the overdue hikers. Their original plan was to descend to the Notch, situated on the right side of Mount Whitney’s face via the Mount Whitney Mountaineer Route.
These hikers had intended to ski or snowboard from the “Notch” down to the Upper Boy Scout Lake, where they had established their camp. A fellow hiker who accompanied them waited for several hours at the campsite before eventually contacting the sheriff’s office for assistance.
To conduct the search, the sheriff’s office deployed a helicopter and search and rescue teams to scour the area. Tragically, both hikers were discovered deceased on a section of the mountain located in Tulare County. The exact cause of their deaths has not yet been disclosed.
The two individuals have been identified as 29-year-old Patricia Bolan from Davis and 28-year-old Andrew Niziol from South Lake Tahoe. According to Niziol’s Instagram account, the two were in a romantic relationship.
Due to the location where the bodies were found, the investigation is now under the jurisdiction of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.
