Pascal Reid,Kelly Reid Obituary, Death; – Two individuals who lost their lives when an aircraft collided with the roof of a warehouse in Fullerton have been identified as a pilot from Huntington Beach and his teenage daughter.
The victims, Pascal Reid and his 16-year-old daughter Kelly Reid, were confirmed deceased following announcements made by the Huntington Beach High School girls’ soccer and flag football teams on social media. Kelly, a junior at Huntington Beach High, was an active participant in varsity soccer, lacrosse, and flag football.
The soccer team expressed their grief in a social media post, stating, “Yesterday, our soccer family suffered an unimaginable loss. Kelly was an extraordinary young woman—genuine, kind, and full of life. She had a natural inclination to care for others and always prioritized their needs. Her absence will be profoundly felt. Her father attended every game, beaming with pride for his daughter. Our thoughts and prayers are with Tara and Rebekah Reid during this difficult time.”
On January 2, the father and daughter were aboard a Van’s RV-10 aircraft that had taken off from Fullerton Municipal Airport. This single-engine, homebuilt aircraft accommodates up to four passengers.
Shortly after departure, Pascal, who was at the controls, attempted an emergency return to the airport but tragically crashed onto the roof of a furniture manufacturing warehouse located on the 2300 block of West Raymer Avenue, approximately 1,000 feet from the runway.
The incident also ignited a fire within the building. Both Kelly and Pascal perished in the crash, while 19 employees present in the Michael Nicholas Designs warehouse sustained injuries, with several suffering from burns. Eleven individuals were transported to local hospitals for medical care, while eight others received treatment and were released at the scene.
“One of my coworkers had his hair burned off, and his shirt was completely charred, leaving only a few scraps of fabric on his back,” recounted Edwin Cano, a warehouse employee. Firefighters worked diligently to extinguish the fire inside the warehouse, while nearby structures were evacuated as a precaution.
