Owensville MI Boat Accident: On Sunday night, a tragic boating accident claimed the lives of a father and daughter on the Gasconade River near Pointers Creek, according to Osage County Sheriff Michael Bonham. The collision occurred around 7 p.m. and involved a 2002 Gatorboat owned by Owensville resident Reven Newbound.

The boat, which was carrying seven people, was traveling upstream when it collided with a root wad and subsequently crashed into a rock cliff. The impact resulted in the deaths of Reven Newbound, 30, and his 7-year-old daughter. The other passengers included Newbound’s wife, Samantha Newbound, 29, and their three children: a baby boy, a 4-year-old girl, and a 9-year-old girl. All of the children were wearing life jackets at the time of the accident. Samantha and the children suffered critical injuries and were transported to University Hospital.

Bland resident Taylor McClure, 21, who was also aboard the boat, received immediate medical attention for minor injuries. The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Water Division is conducting an investigation to determine the causes of the accident.
