Orville J Evans Obituary, Death;- A pilot who lost his life in a small plane crash on April 1 in Tuscarawas County has been named.
Orville J. Evans, 62, from New Philadelphia, was operating the aircraft when it went down that evening in a field located in the 3800 block of State Dam Road, Mill Township, as reported by the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office on Wednesday. The coroner determined that his death was accidental, resulting from blunt force trauma and thermal injury. DNA testing was utilized to verify his identity.
According to state troopers, the aircraft, a 1973 Cessna 310Q fixed-wing multi-engine, departed from Harry Clever Field Airport in New Philadelphia around 4:40 p.m. Evans was the sole occupant of the plane.
The crash is currently under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Transportation Safety Board, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
