Orlando R. Welch Obituary – An Opelika resident lost his life in a solo-vehicle collision in Lee County. The individual, identified as Orlando R. Welch, aged 51, was involved in the tragic incident. According to Senior Trooper Joshua Thompson, the accident occurred around 12:01 a.m. on Saturday on Lee County 145 close to U.S. 280, about two miles west of Smith Station.
Welch sustained fatal injuries after his 2002 Buick Park Avenue veered off the road, collided with a stone column, and flipped over. Sadly, Welch was declared deceased at the accident site. The investigation into the matter is currently being conducted by troopers from ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division.
