Orange Shooting, Man killed in officer-involved shooting; A man was fatally shot by a Vermont state trooper on Wednesday afternoon during an incident in Orange. The shooting occurred around 1:25 p.m. outside a residence on Spencer Road, as reported by the Vermont State Police.
The man’s identity has yet to be confirmed, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The trooper involved was not injured and was taken to Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin for a precautionary evaluation.
An extensive investigation has been initiated, involving multiple units from the Vermont State Police. These include the Major Crime Unit, the Bureau of Criminal Investigations, uniformed troopers from the Field Force Division, and the Victim Services Unit. The Crime Scene Search Team will also process the area where the shooting took place.
The deceased man’s body is scheduled for an autopsy at the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington. This will determine the cause of death and assist in identifying the individual. As per standard procedure, the name of the trooper who discharged their weapon will be disclosed the day following the incident.
