Oliver Nicholson Obituary – Oliver Nicholson, the victim of a fatal stabbing on Tuesday night near Burnside Road, was identified by a Cool Aid spokesperson.
The incident occurred just before midnight in the 2900 block of Douglas Street outside Palagio Pizza. Nicholson resided in Cool Aid’s Crosstown housing facility at Douglas and Burnside, previously known as the Tally Ho Motel.
Cool Aid staff were unable to provide further details about Nicholson on Friday. In April 2022, Nicholson was subjected to a brutal attack within a suite at the housing facility.
He was addicted to methamphetamine and owed his dealer $190 for drugs he had bought for his then-girlfriend. A B.C. Supreme Court judgment from October 2023 found one of the individuals involved guilty of extortion, unlawful confinement, assault causing bodily harm, and assault with a weapon.
The attack, which involved Nicholson’s dealer, former girlfriend, and her new boyfriend, included confining Nicholson in a room, duct-taping him to a chair, and inflicting physical harm such as lighting his shoulder on fire and branding him with a hot coin. Authorities classified Nicholson’s death as an isolated incident, stating that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
As of now, no arrests have been made. The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit is leading the investigation and encourages anyone with information regarding the stabbing to contact investigators at 250-380-6211.
