Why Nathan Scherer Died A tractor accident killed a 23-year-old guy on Saturday afternoon.
A farm tractor crashed on Garrett Road in Silver Creek Township around 12:05 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded quickly to the accident report.
Nathan Scherer died of what?
The inquiry found that 23-year-old St. Joseph resident Nathan Scherer lost control of a tractor pulling an agricultural tool, jackknifing both. After being catapulted from the tractor cab, Scherer was wounded as it turned over. The medical examiner declared Scherer dead on site. Sheriff Richard Behnke said it’s unclear whether drinking or drugs caused the crash.
Pokagon Tribal Police and Indian Lake Fire assisted at the scene. Both the Cass County Sheriff’s Office and Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating the collision. The Indian Lake Fire Department and Pokagon Tribal Police assisted at the incident.
Northbound US-31 accidents
After a Saturday night collision, US-31 northbound lanes are restricted at Russell Road (Exit #121). Motorway closure was reported by MDOT around 7:30 p.m. The Michigan State Police posted on X that Grand Rapids troopers are at the crash site, which has caused significant injuries.
The first report from deputies states that a passenger van with six persons hit a pickup vehicle in the right lane. The driving lady was flung out when the van off the road and rolled many times. Deputies said she was taken to a local hospital in severe condition. Aero Med took a juvenile passenger to a hospital, troopers said.
Deputies said that the pickup truck driver was unharmed, while the other passengers had non-life-threatening injuries. The inquiry is still underway, thus only one road lane has been reopened.
