NEW YORK, NY – New York City is a mess. Migrant crime is out of control and the most recent rape incident in Brooklyn shows just how bad the justice system is when it comes to migrant crime. It also highlights how unsafe New Yorkers are with tens of thousands of illegal migrants roaming the city, being cared for by the state, living in shelters, and knowing that the district attorneys in the city are not doing their job.
A violent assault occurred in New York City on Sunday, where a migrant with a prior sexual assault conviction reportedly raped a woman at knifepoint.
David Davon-Bonilla, 24, from Nicaragua, allegedly attacked a 46-year-old woman, pinning her down and threatening her with a knife to her throat. When the victim’s boyfriend tried to intervene, Davon-Bonilla’s accomplice, 37-year-old Leovando Moreno from Mexico, reportedly struck him with a pipe.
The incident led to the arrest of both men.
Davon-Bonilla faces charges of first-degree rape, second-degree assault, first-degree sexual abuse, menacing, and criminal possession of a weapon. Moreno was charged with second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
Following the attack, the woman was hospitalized at Coney Island Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
Davon-Bonilla, who entered the U.S. illegally in December 2022, had previously pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting another woman. He was residing at La Quinta Hotel in Manhattan, which is used to house migrants.
